One of the projects I worked on during my time on the Outlook Design Team was bringing Likes to the inbox. This was part of an effort to see if social gestures (Likes, @mentions, #tags, etc) would help improve the signal to noise ratio for Outlook users, and allow Outlook to better compete with IM and SMS for person to person communication. In the end, my work added more personality to the email experience, and hopefully made someone smile.
